Sexual health and awareness – Anal Sex

It’s been awhile and I have a few things on my queue to review, several of which are anal toys and lubes. But, before I delve into reviewing, there are a few points I’d like to make about anal play:

First, the popularity of numbing lubes and creams. There are many on the market and they are widely regarded as necessary for making anal sex “bearable” for women. Here’s the deal: The biggest problem with numbing agents are their lack of safety. Your body sends pain signals for a reason and if you’re feeling pain during anal sex, you could be seriously hurting your body. Numbing your ass isn’t going to cause less damage, it’s just going to make you unaware of it until later.

Secondly, sex is meant to be enjoyable for both parties. Numbing agents, while initially perceived as a measure taken to help the person receiving be more comfortable, also take part of the pleasure of anal sex out of the picture. When the catcher isn’t able to feel their ass, it really makes the act of anal sex a matter of ‘taking it until he’s finished’. Even as someone who is still pretty new to the anal game, I can say with confidence, there are ways to take that dick in your ass like a champ while still maintaining feeling.

Lube! Numbing junk aside, there is no such thing as too much lube. While some people can get by comfortably with just saliva, many times lube is necessary. What kind of penetration you have in mind dictates whether water or silicone based lube would be a better choice. If you’re using silicone based toys for insertion, you’ll have to use water based lubes, as silicone lube + silicone toys = forever ruined toys. Many people prefer silicone based lubes, as they tend to be thicker and last longer than water based. However, I have had the chance to try some water based lubes that have been great for anal (more on that with future reviews).

Foreplay. Lots of it. Kisses, hair pulling, oral sex, nipple pinching, fingers in your ass… The more turned on you are, the easier it is. Whatever makes you WANT a dick in your ass, will make taking that dick in your ass more enjoyable. Common sense, folks!

Don’t rush it. Being relaxed and fully acclimated to having larger things in your ass takes a bit of time. Starting with one finger is a good idea, and slowly increasing to three is even better. Once the muscles around the anus are slowly acclimated to their new “open” position, vigorous, rough ( and pain free!) anal sex is possible and feels fucking awesome. Just know your body, take your time, and relax. It should be fun. If it’s not, you’re doing it wrong!
