Under the Bed Restraints – review

I love being tied up. There is something about being restrained that makes an already sexy experience into an extra naughty fuck that’s hot like fire. The only problem is, a lot of the restraint gear that’s out there is shoddy and doesn’t really get the job of restraining actually done. Also, when you don’t have a headboard, finding restraints to accommodate you can be tricky.

Fascinations, a sex toy shop with a reputation for carrying only top quality toys, decided to send me the Sportsheets Under the Bed Restraints to review. Knowing that Sportsheets also has a pretty impeccable reputation, I was hopeful that my search for reliable restraints would be over.

Fortunately, it only took one use of these restraints for me love them. They’re simple to use, comfortable, strong, and discreet.
The set includes four ankle/wrist cuffs, four 60″ straps, one 60″ connector strap and fits on any size mattress. You put it together by simply putting the four straps at each corner of the bed (or two at the head, two at the foot) on top of the box spring, and below the mattress and connect in the middle with the connector strap. Guys, that’s IT! So easy!

Though it could be a mood killer if you’re setting it up in the heat of passion, the beauty of these restraints is that you can keep them set up all the time. They tuck discreetly back under the mattress, cuffs and all, when not in use, keeping them easily accessible when the mood strikes.

My partner volunteered to be the first one to be restrained. He found them to be very comfortable and VERY STRONG. Once I had him restrained, he wasn’t able to move at all. No matter which way he tugged or yanked, the restraints would not give him even the slightest leeway, which was perfect.

When we tried them out again on another night, I volunteered to be restrained…..a brave move after what I put him through during his stint as the guinea pig for the restraints! He was kind enough to relax the restraints a bit so that I was more free to wiggle and squirm, but not so much that I could ‘escape’.
I was amazed at how soft the inside of the cuffs were! I wiggled and struggled during the entire time, and not once did my wrists or ankles feel friction burned or raw. I, too, found them to be extremely strong….you really need to have a partner you trust to use these, because I can’t possibly see how you could get out of these without help.

The cuffs attach via velcro and metal clasps and can also be used without the rest of the restraint system. You can easily hook the wrist cuffs together in back or even attach all the wrist and ankle cuffs together for a “hog tied” type of position.

The Under the Bed Restraints are made of black Neoprene and Nylon, so they’re very durable and easily cleaned, with just some soapy water in a sink. Hang to dry, as putting the restraints into a dryer would likely melt the nylon. Aesthetically, they’re pretty simple – which is not to say, unattractive. Actually, I think the pragmatic design of the plain black straps and cuffs lend well to creating an austere environment for bondage play. The only complaint I have about the Under the Bed Restraints System is the packaging. It comes in a cheap plastic clamshell style container….I think if Sportsheets had gone with more posh packaging, it would be more clear that you’re dealing with a high quality product.

I really like these restraints. Whether for beginners or those seasoned bondage players, this set is awesome. Thanks to Fascinations for sending me the Under the Bed Restraints to review!
